President’s Message
I invite you to look over our educational programs. As a student at Laconia you will find a faculty and staff who care about your academic success and personal growth. Our classes are small, providing ample opportunity for the kind of interactions with faculty and fellow students that promote success. You’ll find it easy to get to know your instructors and to make friends with other students. To assist you in meeting your educational goals, the college provides a variety of general and program-specific scholarships. We have also established articulation agreements that provide transferability of credit into B.A. programs at many four-year colleges and universities, including the University System of New Hampshire. Our growing number of on-line and hybrid courses allows you to create a schedule that meets your individual needs.
Of course, the college experience is more than classrooms and textbooks. In addition to a quality education in a personal and supportive academic environment, you will have the opportunity to participate in student activities, intercollegiate sports, Student Senate, the International Honor Society, and numerous other clubs and organizations. Our location in the heart of the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire provides wonderful summer activities on the water and hiking trails as well as winter activities on the ski slopes and snowmobile trails, making Laconia an excellent choice for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.
Last fall we opened a new state-of-the-art academic building which houses six of our programs. This new facility allows us to offer expanded class options across the spectrum of our 22 associate degree programs. Here at Laconia we have a number of special programs, which draw students from all over New England, such as Fire Science, Electrical Power and Systems, Graphic Design and Printing Technology, and Energy Services. Our “ASEP” automotive program, sponsored by GM, and our Marine Technology program, sponsored by Mercury, train students on the newest equipment and prepare them for outstanding careers as technicians. Our Restaurant Management program operates a public restaurant to provide real world training for our culinary students. These and many other opportunities await you in our highly regarded technical programs. And, of course, if you’re interested in transferring to a university to obtain a B.A. degree, our college provides a high quality, cost effective alternative for your freshman and sophomore years.
Please call, write, e-mail, or visit us. We would be happy to show you our campus or to discuss your academic and career goals.
